Today marks a powerful milestone at GLOW Uganda as eight men from the Kitoma Men's Group take a bold step forward toward economic independence and community transformation. These aspiring entrepreneurs have officially received microloans to either start or expand their small businesses—thanks to the commitment of our Business Loans, Start-up, and Expansion Assistance Scheme.
Following intensive training in business plan writing and after demonstrating strong creditworthiness, these men are now equipped not only with the knowledge but also the financial resources to grow thriving ventures. Their areas of focus are diverse and rooted in the daily needs and opportunities within their communities. From brick making to piggery, poultry, goat and dairy farming, and crop production (with a focus on beans and potatoes), these businesses are poised to uplift both families and the local economy.
This achievement is made possible through the dedicated efforts of our Loans Office and the unwavering support of our “Caring Connections” initiative. Together, we are not just offering money—we are creating pathways to sustainable livelihoods.
About Our Business Loans, Start-up, and Expansion Assistance Scheme
Our program is designed with grassroots realities in mind. While today we celebrate the empowerment of men, our core strategy has been to especially champion women's economic participation. We do this by offering interest-free or low-interest loans, alongside basic business tools and farming equipment, to ensure every woman with a dream has the chance to realize it. Whether it's launching a small trade, boosting an existing farm, or stepping into new markets, we provide the capital and coaching needed to build viable enterprises.
What makes this approach unique is that it’s not just about finance—it’s about formation. We walk alongside our beneficiaries, offering mentorship, monitoring, and motivation. This human-centered approach is what fuels long-term success.
What’s Next?
Later this week, even more opportunities will unfold as additional community members are expected to benefit from this empowerment initiative. GLOW Uganda remains committed to inclusive growth, making sure that no dream is too small to matter and no idea too simple to succeed.
We congratulate the Kitoma men and look forward to celebrating the fruits of their labor in the months to come. As they lay bricks, tend to livestock, and sow seeds, we see more than businesses growing—we see hope taking root.
